West Kerry Community Hospital; Ospidéal Pobail Chorca Dhuibhne

Ospideal Pobail Chorca Dhuibhne; West Kerry Community Hospital:

Ospideal Pobail Chorca Dhuibhne opened its doors to the public in October 2010. The building is purpose built on one level with the residential section branching out in two modules from the ‘Croi’, or ‘the heart of the building’.

We, in Ionad Breannain and Ionad Eibhlis are providing care for long-stay, convalescent/ assessment, respite and palliative. On site there is also a Primary Care Unit, Ambulance Base, and ‘Tearmann’ Mental Health Day Care Centre.

The enclosed gardens provide safe outdoor access and throughout the building the many seating areas allow space to ‘Tóg Sos’ and enjoy the great art work gathered over many years from local artists.

Situated on a large site overlooking Dingle Harbour (where ‘Fungi’ the dolphin made his home), we are only a five minute walk (on wheelchair accessible footpaths) from the centre of this bustling, well renowned town.

Being a community hospital we are an integral part of the community and are therefore incorporated into many of the festivals and celebrations of this vibrant and cultural area. We always get a visit from the ‘Wren Boys every year and throughout the year visits from musicians and dancers attending various festivals are not unusual.

Our language is also a huge part of who we are and this is kept alive here at Ospideal Pobail Chorca Dhuibhne where you find the staff conversing in Irish with the local residents.

Creidimid go deimhin I saol an duine mar ‘Is ó inné a h-agann inniú’
