Our Lady's Hospice and Care Service

Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, Harold’s Cross, has led the development of services in Palliative Care, Rheumatology / Rehabilitation and Anna Gaynor House in the spirit of love, compassion, care and respect for the dignity and worth of each human person, both patients and their loved ones, who seek our help today.

Our Residential service is based in Anna Gaynor House.  We provide multidisciplinary care for those who are older, ill and incapacitated, mindful of the purpose for which the Hospice was founded.  The recently built unit avails of modern resources to promote and provide the highest possible standards of care, facilities and accommodation to its residents and their families.

The Mission Statement of Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services sets out its aspirations and vision

Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services was founded with the objective of providing care, comfort and tranquillity for people in their last days of life. This objective was fulfilled on 9th December 1879 with the admission of the first patients to that part of the Convent premises vacated by the Novices.

The foundation stone of the Hospice building was laid on 18th July 1886 and the building was completed in August 1888.

The Hospice, from its foundation to the present day, demonstrates how the vision grows and develops as new needs, and new ways of meeting them, evolve over the years.
